Elders Newsletter - May

Cornerstone Elders Monthly Newsletter
May - 2024

Cornerstone has been a busy family this month. We were excited to bring Nate Davis to the elder board. He has jumped in with both feet taking on the communion message in June. He is also not afraid to ask lots of catch-up questions during his first elder meeting.  Be sure to thank and encourage him when you see him. I’m sure he would be happy to share his perspective on how the elder meetings are handled. If you don’t know Nate you can find his photo on the super nifty diagram of the church’s structure. It is located on the wall opposite of the kitchen.

We are sad to see Corey and Ryan, directors of worship and creative arts respectively, close their chapters with Cornerstone.  The elders are praying for them to be abundantly blessed as they fulfill every work prompted by their faith (2 Thes 1:11). Be praying for the interim directors as they keep the ministries sailing and that the Spirit brings those gifted and filled with a heart like His to fill those positions.

On July 14th Cornerstone will have a ministry fair after service.  This is a great time, especially if you are new to the church, to meet the directors and ask questions. Maybe you just want to know why we do what we do, or don’t do certain things that you might expect. Hopefully you check the ministries out to see where you may be called to participate with the work of your Cornerstone family. Lunch is provided, but make sure you RSVP on the church website.

If you are looking to dig deep into theology, consider yourself somewhat nerdy, or just want to swim at the deep end for a while, Jesse Palm will be offering a seminary style class covering Wayne Grudem’s book, Systematic Theology. It will be an eight week class beginning in August. Signups will be coming to the website soon. If you see Jesse ask him about it and be prepared for some intense conversation.

Finally, a dear saint, Diane Holt, has gone to be in the presence of our savior. It has been a privilege to pray for and support the Holt family during this time. Dianne served the church in many ways including overseeing the young children. She was a prayer warrior, praying for many of you. She was a solid rock, a faithful servant, an encourager, and a gentle soul that will be greatly missed. Cornerstone will be hosting her funeral Saturday June 29th at 7:00pm. Join us in praying for the Holts.
